FEMA is opening a mobile disaster recovery center for northeast Oklahoma residents this week only. The city of Miami will be host to the center, opening today and going through Thursday. State and local agencies will be on hand to help those impacted by any storm or floods that happened between May 7th and June 9th of this year. That includes applying for grants that will help pay for temporary housing, home repairs, business loans or other disaster-related expenses that insurance won’t cover. OAKLEY — A man who died after his vehicle slammed into a power pole Saturday morning has been identified. Sherman Tucker, 66, of Oakley, was driving more than 100 mph shortly before hitting the pole and knocking it over around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. The van flipped over, and Tucker died after becoming trapped inside, police said. The wreck happened near the corner of West Cypress Road and O’Hara Avenue around 10:23 a.m. An autopsy later Monday will determine if Tucker suffered a medical emergency before the van crashed. Police also were investigating to find out if something went wrong mechanically with the car. The speeding van also hit another car, injuring a person. That person went by medical helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and was expected to make a full recovery, police said.
