W I T H - L O V E

For several weeks I have taken notice to trash. On my commute to work a neon orange rope lay in the middle of the highway and has slowly made it’s way 2 miles up the road in a span of 3 weeks. At first I thought it was silly, the idea that this rope is […]

As another Earth Day rolls around, I like to prepare myself for the slew of posts on climate change and how dire things are; as well as everyone’s unsolicited opinions on how to make an impact.

‘Turn off your lights, don’t run the water, don’t eat meat, go vegan, bike everywhere, drive electic, support local farms, but not meat farms, drink water but don’t drink all the water, spin around five times and stop breathing entirely.’

How frustrating.

The North Face is doing more than just celebrating Earth Day this year. The company has launched a campaign, including a Change.org petition, in the hopes of making Earth Day a nationally designated holiday. [ami-related id=”- Click to search articles -” url=”https://www.mensjournal.com/travel/the-worlds-best-national-parks-for-adventure-ranked/” title=”The World’s Best National Parks, Ranked” target=”_blank” thumb=”false” imgsrc=”” inset=”true” format=”” subtitle=””] During the previous week heading into Earth Day on April 22, North Face launched its “Explore Mode” initiative, which included the petition, as well as partnerships with entertainers, explorers, organizations, and influencers to help spread the word about Earth Day and why it should be recognized as an official holiday. Part of the petition reads that the North Face believes “that Earth Day should be a national holiday – giving everyone time to explore our planet. When people take time to appreciate Earth, they feel more connected to it and are more likely to protect it. That’s why we are taking a stand and committing that on Earth Day we will explore and connect with our surroundings. Sign and share to join the petition to support Earth Day as a national holiday.” The petition to try and make Earth Day a national holiday was co-sponsored by brands like National Geographic, Clif, S’well, the Girl Scouts, and Headspace. On top of that, for the first time in the history of the brand, North Face has closed all 113 of its stores in the United States and Canada along with its headquarters on Earth Day “to give employees the opportunity to explore out of the office.” [ami-related id=”- Click to search articles -” url=”https://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/inside-the-minds-of-the-worlds-greatest-solo-adventurers/” title=”Inside the Minds of the World’s Greatest Solo Adventurers” target=”_blank” thumb=”false” imgsrc=”” inset=”true” format=”” subtitle=””] Part of the campaign is also to get people to recognize the beauty of nature and disconnect with their cell phones and technology. As the petition also reads: “Today, we’re spending more time in front of screens than ever before. The average person with a smartphone checks their phone 47 times per day. When we unplug, we’re more open to connect with each other, our communities, and the world around us.” Check out the petition here and more about the North Face campaign. I love exploring new restaurants and cafes and embracing the incredible variety of cuisines that exist in the world.  While I truly love getting creative in the kitchen, I embrace the opportunity to explore new places and the amazing food and beverage options they have to offer.  Unfortunately, dining out or grabbing grub on-the-go is […]

Oh Kells No

Today is Earth Day and I’ve decided that this is going to be the year I really start reducing the amount of plastic we use in my house.  You can’t scroll through Facebook these days without reading a headline or seeing a photo of the plastic island floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, […]

Happy Earth Day! I have a giveaway to celebrate at the end of this post. Earth Day is a great reminder to be more eco-conscious. Most of us want to make more “green” or environmental choices, and we want to know how to be more earth-friendly. However, it can be easy to get overwhelmed.   […]

As I was walking in La Jolla with my sister on Sunday, she exclaimed, pointing at the window display, “Look at what a beautiful S’well that is!” For those of you who aren’t familiar, S’well is a fancy water bottle brand known for sleek designs and impressive insulation (as well as steep prices). Even though […]
