THIS is the shocking moment gangland enforcer Scott Capper launched an unprovoked attack on an innocent clubber. Our exclusive CCTV image from the now-closed Sin nightclub in Dublin’s Temple Bar shows Capper — one of gangster Mr Flashy’s henchmen — punching tourist Nevil Picton, from Liverpool, on October 2, 2016. He initially just talks to his victim Capper starts posing with fists up before the attack He then hits his victim in an uppercut fashion The gangland enforcer will now be off the streets for the next three and a half years In other images, we show how Capper was initially talking to his victim before punching him in an “uppercut fashion”. A third snap shows Capper enjoying a night out with pals at the venue as he was on a marathon booze session. Gangster Liam Byrne’s close associate Nathan Little was also present at the venue enjoying a night out as the Kinahan and Hutch feud raged. The footage shows Capper — also close pal of gangland murder victim Sean Little — sitting at a table at one end of the club before moving close to the men’s toilets. Once there, he starts a conversation with his victim. Seconds later, he can be seen making poses with his fists clenched. ‘CAPPER BELIEVED HIS OWN HYPE’ Shortly after clenching his fists, Capper puts his arm around his victim before taking it away and then punching him in the brutal attack. He also slapped him after the punch. The thug’s victim lost a tooth in the attack, suffered permanent scarring and is still undergoing extensive dental treatment. The innocent assault victim has also had to pay €2,680 in medical expenses. A source said: “The images clearly show that Capper was out of control that night and was determined to attack anyone. “It shows how callous he was because he was having fun with his victim one minute and then the next he was punching him in the face. “Capper believed his own hype and thought he was invincible but the CCTV played a crucial role in identifying him for the assault.” CENTRE OF NEW PROBE As part of our revelations on Capper, we can also reveal that he remains at the centre of a new Garda investigation. He was targeted by investigators after he was accused of battering another person in the Rush area of north Dublin last year. On that occasion, he took a taxi from Blanchardstown with two other people after an all-night party. Shortly after arriving in north county Dublin, he’s suspected of assaulting that person in April of this year. But that individual has refused to make an official complaint to Gardai because of his links to Mr Flashy’s gang. He is also suspected of refusing to pay a taxi fare during the incident. A source added: “The person hasn’t made a complaint because they’re probably terrified but this incident again shows his propensity for violence. “The taxi driver was also intimidated by him and shows his contempt for others by the fact he refused to pay the fare. “It’s possible he could face other charges over this incident.” CAPPER CAGED Capper is now off the streets after he was jailed for three-and-a-half years earlier this month for the assault on Mr Picton and for an assault on a man at the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar. He attacked the man at the hotel on August 6, 2016, after the victim “touched” his girlfriend’s hair. On December 19, 2016, Capper also received a suspended sentence after he was convicted of assaulting another man in the Henry Street area on May 31, 2015. Following the two assaults in Temple Bar, he was identified as the chief suspects by officers from Pearse Street Garda Station’s Street Crime Unit. As part of their probe, he was also identified by officers from the Gardai’s K District in north and west Dublin because of his links to Flashy’s gang. But he wasn’t charged with the assaults until August 31, 2018, as he had already been serving a nine-month sentence for his involvement in a mass brawl at the Cardiff Inn pub in Finglas, north Dublin, on October 17, 2017. Capper was then brought to court on January of this year and pleaded guilty to the two Temple Bar assaults. A warrant was then issued for his arrest on April 8 of this year when he failed to appear in court for his sentencing. ‘GROSS OVER-REACTION’ Over the next four weeks, the Gardai — backed by the Armed Support Unit — launched searches in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal as part of their efforts to find him. He was finally caught on May 7 after investigators stormed a hotel in Athlone. The investigations into the two assaults were run by officers Barry Keegan, Sean McCarthy, Chris Jones and Neil Carbury under the command of Supt Joe Gannon. During his sentence hearing earlier this month at Dublin Circuit Court, Judge Martin Nolan criticised Capper’s temper. The senior judge said: “In the first assault there was some degree of provocation, but it was modest and small. “It was something you could call a gross over-reaction. In the second there was no provocation at all and the victim has been left with serious difficulties. “I’ve heard that he was previously convicted of assault causing harm and was also convicted of violent disorder. “It’s clear Mr Capper has a problem with his temper and he has control issues. He was given a chance by the courts before and obviously didn’t take it.” FEUD CRACKDOWN Capper’s conviction is a serious blow to the gang run by Mr Flashy as the gangster continues to be involved in two separate gangland feuds. The Garda crackdown against his mob is also continuing in west Dublin and across Finglas. In the latest operation, Gardai, backed by the Emergency Response Unit and the Armed Support Unit, raided his gang’s suspected HQ in Finglas last week. The property — which had bulletproof windows and doors — was later petrol bombed. Since last year, there have been several attempted murders, petrol bombings and threats issued on social media as part of the feud. [article-rail-section title=”MOST READ IN NEWS” posts_category=”2″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] Last week, a 19-year-old gang associate was the target of a major Garda operation in which €24,000 worth of cocaine was seized. A number of properties in the Cabra area of Dublin were also searched last week. Gardai also continue to maintain a strong presence across west and north Dublin to prevent the gangs from targeting each other. Garda Supt Joe Gannon
