Every year, UEFA releases its benchmarking report as the governing body continues to analyse financial and other off-the-pitch developments in European football. It’s no different this January with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin delightedly announcing positive trends across the board. And with figures from the 2017 financial year fully reported we can get a real sense of just what top clubs are spending and accruing in their quests for glory. Luckily Alexis Sanchez’s monstrous £350,000 a week salary at Manchester United doesn’t feature in these figures. Some sides spend big on wages in the hope they can tempt the best stars in the world to join them, while others scrimp and save, like Tottenham Hotspur. But which clubs reported the biggest total wage bills? Find out the figures below. CHELSEA are attempting to beat Manchester City to the signing of Barcelona prodigy Moriba who has been dubbed the ‘new Paul Pogba’, according to reports in Spain. The powerful midfielder is a star of Barcelona’s youth team and has been a regular in their side for the UEFA Youth League. Barcelona youngster Ilaix Moriba has reportedly been offered a deal by Chelsea Moriba Kourouma – also known as Ilaix – can quit Barcelona after turning 16 in January and is highly-rated by Pep Guardiola who saw him as a future Yaya Toure. SunSport then revealed City faced competition from Chelsea for the youngster and the Blues have now held a meeting with player’s agent, according to Spanish outlet Sport. Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia was given permission to go ‘all out’ for Moriba, who is no longer training with Barca’s Under-19 team as he looks to sort his future. The Spanish giants are also to keen to keep the Guinea-born starlet and the Catalans have reportedly made a big effort to satisfy Moriba’s agents’ demands.
