The charred remains of one of Tony Delbusso’s ice cream vans Tony Delbusso believes rival sellers have targeted him following a row over pitches The blaze spread to their home, causing £70,000 damage as it destroyed a bedroom, part of the roof and the garage. Tony, better known as Mr Cool, reckons rival sellers targeted his family-run business in an ongoing row over pitches. Up to four ice cream men have been working on his patch in and around Hinckley, Leics. Tony, who has run the firm for eight years after taking over from his dad who set it up in the 1970s, said: “This has destroyed the business. It’s on hold. ICE CREAM TRADE WAR “We’re considering our future. I think this could be down to an ice cream trade war. “I’ve heard about them happening but never locally. It’s frightening to think we could be at the centre of one.” He added: “There’s numerous rivals, around three or four work the same patch, but it’s never come to aggression. “Nine times out of ten you just accept somebody else got there first. In busy periods it can get a bit heated but we rarely clash with each other.
We certainly suspect it’s to do with competitors stopping us trading because of the fact two ice cream vans were torched
“There are occasions where you turn up on the same road at the same time and your pitches overlap.
