WJBF
The heat is picking up in the CSRA. Temperatures have jumped into the 90s with humidity also on the increase. Expect those hot conditions throughout the week as we start to set up for another very hot pattern. As highs climb from the low 90s to the mid 90s by next weekend, we’ll rain chances increase into the middle of the week. While we’ll see a few showers tonight in isolated places, we’ll have scattered showers and storms for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday and Saturday see mostly sunny skies without the rain chances. Sunday might see a few storms but we’re back to sunshine and heat for Monday.

LUBBOCK, Texas — KAMC Meteorologist Jacob Riley has your Monday weather forecast. Sponsored by J Ferg Pros. TODAY: Monday will remain partly cloudy for most of the day. Temperatures will remain slightly below average once again, as highs top out in the middle to upper 80s across the South Plains. Winds will be from the southeast between 10 and 15 MPH, which will bring more moisture into our area later in the day. This moisture will help to fuel evening storms. We will remain dry throughout most of the day, but storms will arrive after 5 PM Monday evening. A few of these storms will be on the strong to severe side. A level 2 slight risk of severe storms has been issued for western counties in our area. The rest of the viewing area is under a level 1 marginal risk of severe storms through Monday night. Wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH, in addition to hail greater than 1 inch, the size of a quarter, in diameter will be possible.  TONIGHT: Severe storms will be likely before Midnight tonight. After Midnight, showers and storms will continue, but they will likely be sub-severe. Overnight lows will drop down into the middle and upper 60s, with scattered showers and storms continuing. Winds will continue out of the southeast around 10 MPH. Showers and storms will stick around through the early morning hours of Tuesday.  TOMORROW: Highs will warm into the lower 90s for most of us on Tuesday. Showers and storms should come to an end by 6 AM. Winds will be out of the southwest between 10 and 15 MPH. As we head into the evening hours, we could see storms begin to develop over eastern sections of our area. Showers and storms will likely form where our morning storms die off. Some of these storms could be on the strong to severe side, with winds and hail being the main threats.  Have a great day! -Jacob Facebook: Meteorologist Jacob Riley Twitter: @jrileywx

A westerly flow in our winds will keep hot and above average temperatures in the forecast. The Borderland will be dry, breezy, and warm for the next week. Today, forecast highs look to be just slightly above average and in the mid to upper 90s across the borderland. Winds will come from the west southwest at 5-15 mph. Breezy conditions look to pick up in the afternoon hours. This will be the trend we follow for the next week. We will see mild morning conditions as well as warm to hot afternoons, and breezy to low end windy conditions in the afternoon. We do not see any rain or storm chances in the forecast for the next 9 days. We will see some storms out to our far east today, but because of the strong push of dry air coming in from the west, we will not see any humid air from this system. Temperatures throughout the week will be near normal to slightly above average. It only looks like we will see one 100° day, which will be on Thursday. We will see mostly clear skies throughout today with some passing clouds. This will be the trend we following throughout the rest of the week as well. Since we are seeing hot afternoon conditions, here are some heat safety tips to make sure you and your loved ones beat the heat:

Happy Father’s Day! It was a great day to appreciate dad outside as long as you found a way to keep yourself cool. We avoided the rain and just saw some clouds to go along with blue skies and warm temperatures. Tomorrow, expect the heat to keep coming as a few more clouds roll in along with a small chance for an isolated shower or storm. We’ll have scattered showers and storms through most of the work week as highs stay in the low 90s and lows sit around 70. The best chance for rain will come on Thursday. We’ll clear out a bit more heading into the weekend. Temps will stay the same but we should see mostly sunny skies for Friday and Sunday with a slight chance for a little rain on Saturday.
