Pick Your Poison For content warnings click here. “Pick your poison.” He held out two mugs to me, both brimming with rich, black coffee. It was some expensive kind I was unfamiliar with. The scent alone beckoned me. I looked between them. Identical plain white mugs. Identical coffee. Identical everything. “What’s the difference?” A smile […]

[Trump] urges us all to shake loose the surly bonds of civilised conduct: to make science irrelevant and rationality optional, to render truth obsolete, to set power free to roam the world, to lift all the core conditions written into the social contract – fealty to reason, scepticism about instincts, aspirations to justice. We then, […]

Texas A&M Commencement Address "SPEECH OF REALITY"

This is a story about a conservative lawyer from Texas A&M and the faculty that are all lefties. Texas A&M Commencement Address  “SPEECH OF REALITY” The students gave a standing ovation; the faculty were deathly silent. Neal Boortz is a Texan, a lawyer, a Texas Aggie (Texas A&M) graduate, and now a nationally syndicated talk show host from […]

Humble Beginnings

Hi! My name is Gaby and I honestly have no idea what I’m doing with this blog. Seriously… I haven’t the foggiest….. I guess the reason I wanted to try my hand at blogging is that I want to document my journey in this crazy fitness world and maybe help some people along the way. […]

In marketing these days, you can’t swing an enthusiastic micro-influencer without hitting someone who’s talking about video content. And it’s not without merit. A recent HubSpot study revealed 54% of consumers want to see more video content from brands and businesses they support. With video marketers earning 66% more qualified leads per year and a…

After being tied up for hours, I ran into the bathroom to relieve myself as soon as June released me. I knew I had to get out of there fast before my anger scorched me a path direct to prison. Passing through the bedroom, I noticed with some surprise, June at her nightly habit of writing in her diary. She looked exhausted but still she scribbled away, not even looking up as I strode past the end of the bed. The question of who or what manner of person writes in their journal after such a depraved event flashed through my head. At that point I had no answer.

Chapter Three When Maya pulled into her father’s driveway, she was relieved to see Jeff’s Mercedes parked beside their father’s pickup. She pulled her black BMW on the other side of the truck and grinned at how the two expensive cars flanked the beat-up old piece of family history. As she got out, she heard […]

This blog post will overview when it’s time to check in with your doctor/prescriber for an adjustment or a new medication altogether, as promised. There are so many medications out there as discussed in my last post that most people only try two or three from any given class to find the one that works. […]

Making a Little Birdhouse in My Soul

It’s been a while since I’ve publicly shared any of my writing—life gets crazy sometimes, am I right? With wedding planning, getting married, traveling, career changes, trying to be more present in my friends’ and family’s lives, trying to buy a house, and other general human stuff, I haven’t even thought about blogging. The last […]

There are two sayings which I find particularly irritating.  I usually hear “You get what you pay for” from people who want to feel morally superior for owning a $400 tent, and my camping gear would be a complete trigger.  The second (from annoyingly blonde scandinavian types) is “There is no bad weather, just bad […]
