REDCAR 1.55 FRAGRANT DAWN showed promise with two outings late on last season. She started with a good third at Newmarket before filling the same spot at Chelmsford. There’s a chance she may need this but has the best form on offer in the field. Country caught the eye when blocked in his run at Doncaster on debut last time out. He’s bred to be classy and should come on a lot for that experience. Dabouk wasn’t asked too many questions first up at Wolverhampton earlier this month and should come on for that. [article-rail-section title=”LATEST IN RACING” posts_category=”21″ posts_number=”12″ query_type=”recent” /] 2.30 NINJAGO is nine now but had bits and pieces of decent form last term including when third in a good handicap at Doncaster in September. This trip suits well and he has come right down the weights. Eldelbar makes his UK debut after winning a couple of claimers in France over this sort of trip. Any market support would be interesting. Epeius is 2lb higher than when winning a couple of times on the all-weather at Newcastle and comes from an in-form yard. [iframe src=”https%3A%2F%2Ffragments.sunracingtech.uk%2Fpromotions” height=”104″ /] 3.05 HORTZADAR tackles quicker ground than his barnstorming win at Pontefract last time but it was an impressive effort so a 5lb penalty shouldn’t stop him. He has winning form on fast going in France and looks way ahead of the handicapper. Buccaneers Vault likes it here and was beaten just over a length in fair company at Doncaster on his comeback. He should be on the premises again. Athollblair Boy has been going well on the AW with a run of wins and places and should give his running again. 3.40 SALUTI should have no issues dropping back in distance after a good second at Doncaster last time out. He’s had a breathing operation over the winter and he looks on a very handy mark. Magical Effect was back from a long break with a quiet run at Chelmsford last time but likes it here and should improve on that having dropped down the weights. Musicka saves his best for this distance and held his form well late last term. He’s worth a look on this comeback. 4.15 RANSOMED DREAMS had three quick runs in maidens without being asked too many questions. He has been gelded ahead of going handicapping and has the scope to do quite a bit better. Mushaageb enjoyed his first run on turf when beaten just over three lengths at Windsor last time out. Different headgear goes on today and he looks on a very fair weight. Lexikon has been going well on the all-weather and was beaten in a tight finish at Newcastle last time. She should be thereabouts again. 4.50 MYKLACHI hasn’t been clobbered by the handicapper for his first run in this sphere. He didn’t show a lot at maiden level on the all-weather and there should be a lot more to come. Blazing Dreams has been in excellent form at Newcastle and he’s up a fair 3lb for his latest victory there. His best form has come over this distance. Toro Dorado came back from a break with a fair fourth at Chelmsford latest and has more to offer. [iframe src=”https%3A%2F%2Ffragments.sunracingtech.uk%2Fpromotions” height=”104″ /] 5.25 EXTREME APPEAL has won two of his three runs on the level including on turf at Doncaster last month. He followed up with a gutsy success on the AW at Newcastle latest and should have more to offer on the Flat. Echo has been in cracking form at Newcastle and shapes as though the step up from 1m4f could be a wise move. He’s a threat, while Divin Bere is interesting returning to the level from hurdling having had a wind operation and joined canny Iain Jardine. 6.00 SECRET PICNIC has been in good form on the all-weather as he showed with a good second at Chelmsford following a solid effort at Newcastle. The handicapper is giving him a little help and this looks a weak enough race. Shug looks capable of better and is dropping in distance after tackling a mile lately. That could bring some improvement, while Joey Boy is still learning and could take a step forward. COLONEL UNTHANK'S NORWICH

There was a time when investigating the world around you could be a dangerous thing: think of Galileo’s unpleasantness with the Inquisition for suggesting that the Earth might not be the centre of the Universe. Locally, on a more humble scale, a group of Norfolk botanists [1] were at the forefront of systematic plant classification; […]

Every Woman Dreams...

This post originally appeared on Austen Authors on January 25, 2019. Enjoy!  How clearly I recall writing this blog post in March of 2011. I was six months pregnant with my daughter and spent the bulk of the morning at a lab getting my second glucose test for gestational diabetes. I whiled away the hungry hours devouring […]

The Turf Accountant

The flat season is slowly but surely kicking into gear with Jim Bolger, Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes in terrific early season form. However, I do my trawling in deeper waters. 30th March 2019: Navan 5f 3yo+ handicap: Shane Donohoe is probably a very good example of a lower-tier, dual-purpose trainer who has excelled just […]

Design takes an escapist turn this season. This global outlook is long and languid, saturated in golden-hued warmth and exotic influences that evoke journeys to far-flung locations. This season takes a dive beneath the waves, bringing attention to the colour, life and beauty of the blue planet. With mesmerising sea creatures and spectacular ecosystems that exist underwater, it has never been easier to take the plunge. A Textiles Vocabulary

I aim to use a mix of acrylic paint, paper cutting and collage, digital drawings and lino cutting to capture the qualities of the plants. My approach to this project is to first mind map each of the plants to capture the qualities and identify specific elements such as texture and shape that I want […]

2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement, which was founded by Walter Gropius, a German architect who opened an Art school with the concept of creating a ‘total’ work of art , in which all arts would be bought together. The Bauhaus style has become one of the most influential in modern design, […]
